1. Service Overview

LNemail provides fast anonymous email accounts powered by Bitcoin Lightning Network payments. This is a full-featured email service supporting both sending and receiving with Lightning-powered payments.

2. Privacy & Anonymity Commitment

  • No KYC, Ever: We will never require or collect personal identification information from our users.
  • Anonymous Operation: The service operators remain anonymous and are not subject to any specific jurisdiction, operating under natural law principles.
  • No IP Tracking: IP addresses are only used for request throttling and web firewall protection. We do not store any links between IP addresses and email accounts.
  • Bitcoin Lightning Payments: All payments are processed through the Bitcoin Lightning Network for maximum privacy and speed.

3. Data Handling & Retention

  • Automatic Cleanup: All system logs are automatically cleaned up after 30 days.
  • Account Expiration: Email accounts are valid for one year from creation date.
  • Post-Expiration Grace Period: Accounts and data are automatically deleted 1 year after subscription expiration, with opportunity to renew within that timeframe.
  • Data Removal on Request: Users can request immediate data removal by contacting lnemail@lnemail.net with their access token.
  • No Long-term Storage: We do not retain user data beyond the service period and grace period.

4. Service Features

  • Send & Receive: Full email functionality with Lightning payments for outgoing messages.
  • Web & API Access: Email access through our web interface and REST API.
  • Plain Text Focus: HTML content is stripped for security; emails are displayed as plain text.
  • Lightning Payments for Sending: Small Lightning payments required for each outgoing email for spam prevention.
  • No Attachments: Email attachments are not supported for security reasons.

5. Payment & Access

  • Lightning Network Only: All payments must be made via Bitcoin Lightning Network.
  • Account Creation: One-time Lightning payment for one-year email account access.
  • Email Sending: Per-email Lightning payments for outgoing messages to prevent spam.
  • Token-Based Authentication: Access is controlled through secure tokens with no password storage.
  • No Refunds: All Lightning Network payments are final and non-refundable.
  • Payment Verification: Account activation and email sending require successful Lightning payment confirmation.

6. Acceptable Use

  • Service is intended for legitimate email communication purposes only.
  • Service may not be used for spam, phishing, harassment, or other malicious activities.
  • Lightning payment requirements help prevent abuse and spam.

7. Service Availability

  • Best Effort: We provide service on a best-effort basis with no uptime guarantees.
  • Maintenance: Service may be interrupted for maintenance or upgrades.
  • Continuous Improvement: Service is actively maintained and improved.

8. Liability & Disclaimers

  • Service Provided "As Is": LNemail is provided without warranties.
  • Limited Liability: We are not liable for any damages, losses, or issues arising from service use.
  • Data Backup: Users should not rely solely on LNemail for critical communications.

9. Open Source

LNemail is open source software released under the MIT license. You can review the code, contribute improvements, or run your own instance.

10. Changes to Terms

These terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any changes. Major changes will be announced through available communication channels.
